On 21 July 2013, Breakthru Midrand Striders will be opening up the streets of Waterfall Estate to thousands of enthusiastic and dedicated runners and walkers, for their annual race, which includes a 15km, run and walk as well as a 5km fun run/walk. Breakthru Midrand Striders have been organising a race since 1985 and over the years this event has been very successful and well organised boasting high ratings and enjoyment. The Breakthru Midrand 15 kilometre has been consistently ranked in a number of our surveys as a well organised and well-presented event. Over the last six years it achieved distinction as one of South Africas best loved 15 kilometre events. (Modern Athlete 2012)
The race venue for the last few years has been at the Midrand High School, but the event has outgrown the venue. We are pleased to announce that we have secured Waterfall Estates as our new venue for 2013. This venue will allow us to attract even more people to come and run in country surroundings. Over the years we have had the following sponsors: Nashua, Dan Perkins, Fatti's & Moni's, Panasonic, Sandown Motors, CS Holdings, Leppan Beech and Breakthru Sports Performance.
This year the beneficiary of the 5km fun run will be the Rotary Club. |

Be Safe:
This year the race will be held at the Waterfall Estate in Midrand. This prestigious setting will allow the whole event to be run withing the estate. This will make the event very safe for all ages.

Go Green:
This year the race organisers decided to go eco conscious and to become carbon neutral by offsetting the carbon footprint of the event by planting trees. We will partner with Food and Trees for Africa to ensure the trees planted are sustainable. In support of the eco-conscious theme, and in order to respect the beautiful surroundings of Waterfall Estate, the organisers have declared this a litter-free race. Littering will only be tolerated within demarcated areas of the route.

Get Warm:
The race is held in July which is a rather cold time of year. We have decided to embrace our winter warmer race by ensuring that hot food and drinks are available throughout the race. Some lucky entrants will have their coffee and hot chocolate sponsored by the organisers.
