||15/01/2015 - 18/01/2015
||Lancelin, Western Australia
The event attracts 3000 to 5000 visitors to Lancelin including world class competitors from around the world who will be participating in the Lancelin Ocean Classic in 2015, we will also see the return of world speed sailing record breaker and world champion Björn Dunkerbeck, 2013 and 2014 Marathon winner Steve Allen
4 massive days of action
This year's event will be conducted over four massive days, and includes two windsurfing events (Wave sailing and the Marathon) plus kitesurfing and jetskiing.
The marathon is a downwind course of approximately 25 kilometres and over the years has seen from 200 to 400 starters, many entering to try to complete the gruelling course and claim a share of the $25,000 prize pool. Wave sailing is the more spectacular discipline with over 70 competitors sailing in four man heats trying to out manoeuvre each over with the highest aerials or radical wave riding.
Last years kite events were very popular with many attempting the downwind Marathon for the first time and we expect a large number of entries again this year with the downwind race on Sunday afternoon. There should also be plenty of action in the new Waves event on Friday plus the impressive freestyle event.
There will also be high octane action with a jet ski race series on the Saturday in Lancelin Bay so keep an eye and an ear out for these adrenalin junkies.
Something for everyone
There is something for everyone with market stalls, entertainment and food and drinks in our custom made Event Village- based right at the Marathon Finish Line at Grace Darling Park, Lancelin, which will be open across the 4 days.
