About:
Conducted in the crystal clear protected waters of Rottnest Island which is situated approx. 20kms off the coast of Perth, Western Australia.
This event was first conducted in 1977 and has been held annually ever since.
It is always held on the first Saturday of December and is hugely popular.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
ENTRY
Remains open until 10.00am the day before the event.
Costs are:
15 years and over $30
Under 15 years $20 until 15/11/2016, then increases to $30.
ALL ENTRY FEES ARE NON REFUNDABLE
ENTRY ON THE DAY
Will be accepted. Cost is $50. All will be eligible for prizes.
START
The 500 Metre event will be all off go.
The 1600 Metre Swim will have colour coded caps issued to determine starting position. Swimmers will be sent off in waves of 3 minute intervals and no more than one colour will be allowed in the water at any one time. It is essential that all swimmers are on the beach near the start line to allow the briefing to commence on time.
REGISTRATIONS
Race caps and timing bands will be issued from 11.00am on the day. They MUST be worn.
SWIMWEAR
All swimwear must be FINA compliant.
PRESENTATIONS
Will be held at the race area immediately upon race completion. This allows plenty of time for those catching afternoon ferries so please join us to help celebrate a great wrap-up of the day. You must be at the Presentations to be eligible to win a random draw prize.
