This brand new race for 2017 will be held on the stunning beach at Aberdyfi, mid Wales, with a 1000m sea swim followed by a 5k beach run. Intended as a more casual race, there will be no chip timing (we'll do it the old-fashioned way!), and it is aimed at novices as well as more experienced triathletes who want a little 'fun'! Relay teams will also be allowed if you don't want to do the whole thing, and the club can help you find a partner if required.
The race begins with a spectacular mass start from the beach, but if you're nervous of swimming in the crowd then it's fine to just hang back. The swim route will take you towards the estuary until the half-way turnaround buoy, with the return swim along the sea wall to the exit point near the start/finish area. After a 'beach transition' where you remove your wetsuit and pull on some trainers, the run heads out towards Tywyn along the beach before turning back to the finish line.
There will be boat and kayak support in the sea on the day, and the club will put on open water training sessions in the lead up to the race which are open to all. There are no age groups, no race bags, medals or trophies, it's just a bit of fun - come and give it a try!
