About: Haenertsburg Rotary Club presents the Makgobaskloof Plunge 2024
The 42.2 km Plunge and 21.1 km Half; a 10 km Run and 5 km Fun Run
The 42 km is run from Haenertsburg to Tzaneen; with a total ascent of about 400m and descent of +- 1100m. After a 2 km warm-up around the village the route joins the R71 eastbound starting with a 3 km climb. You'll be running on the shoulder of the westbound lane, facing any oncoming traffic. After 14 km of ups and downs on the mountain the course descends Makgobaskloof (495m over 5 km) to the Lowveld where you will find the first 9 km again undulating and finally 14 km of easier gradients on the R71, R36 and streets of Tzaneen to the finish.
A taxing experience when combined with the Lowveld summer temperature and humidity. The 21km race is run simultaneously on the latter half of the same course. The two shorter distance events will be started after the leader group. The R71 will be partially closed for 5 hours and traffic officers will be assisting our marshals. We have 14 water points at intervals of 3.5 km and less and field toilets at 10km intervals.
NB: these fees exclude an online transaction cost of R8 fixed + 6% of the gross value.

All races finish at Letaba Rugby Club on the Tzaneen Showgrounds and will be timed.

3) Community Centre, Haenertsburg - Friday 15th November 2024 from 14h00 to 18h00 and Saturday 16th November (for 42km only) 04h00 to 05h00
All race numbers not collected at one of the above points can be collected at the start points up to half-an hour before the race starts.
All finishers will receive a medal. 42.2km cut-off 6 hr.
