About: This race had its humble beginnings in February 2022 as Inkamana Road Race, offering a 10 km race and the 5 km fun run. In 2023 it leaped forward as Inkamana Half Marathon, with the 21.1km race being added.
In 2025, it is with great excitement to grow this event to a full 42 km marathon and to rename it in honour of one Son of the Soil, a Zululand great and Inkamana Alumni, Professor Otty Nxumalo.
This is a 4-in-1 event, comprising of the 42.2km, 21.1km, 10km and a 5km fun run/walk. The 42 km race is an Official Qualifier for the 2026 Two Oceans and Comrades Marathons!
The race route will take you on a tour of Vryheid town, under Abaqulusi Municipality. Whether you run in a group or prefer a solitary run, this race will definitely give you an enjoyable time on the road.
Come enjoy the serenity of Inkamana Abbey and scenic views of the Klipfontein Dam. Your club or team can hold its race debrief session on the lovely grounds, under the coolness of the trees at the Abbey.

Race entries
Race entries will be available online on Peak Timing and Webtickets websites, Pick ?n Pay and Boxer Stores.
Early bird race entries will close on Friday 26 September 2025, 23:59 pm. Online late entries will be available on this race page until 05:30 a.m. on race day. Saturday 04-Oct 2025.
On Saturdays, from 30-Aug until 27-Sep, lookout for Inkamana Athletics Club gazebos at Princess Mkabayi Mall and at Abaqulusi Plaza where you can be assisted with race enquiries and on-line race entries.

Race packs collections
- Friday, 03-Oct, at Abaqulusi Plaza on Mason Street, Vryheid - from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
- Saturday 04-Oct (race day morning):Inkamana Abbey, at the school hall from 4:00 a.m. until
o 5:45 a.m. for 42 km, 21 km and 10 km
o 6:15 a.m. for 5 km fun run/walk
Race entry changes
Substitutions, up-grades and down-grades may be done ONLY on Friday 03 October 2025, during race packs collections for R50.00 fee. There will be NO race entry changes on race day.
Tog bag area
A tog bag area will be available on race day at race venue. Runners will leave their belongings at their own risk.
Waterpoints
Waterpoints for refreshments will be located every 3 km along the route. All race participants are urged to use the waste bins provided when disposing of any litter.
