We're excited to celebrate the 5th year of the Stronger Together Triathlon, and we'd love for you to bring the whole family and all your friends along for an unforgettable experience!
This isn't just any event - we've got a few surprises in store to make it the most memorable triathlon you'll ever take part in, right in the heart of the Free State.
In honour of "Tannie Poenkie" and all her cherished family and friends, this charity event is dedicated to strengthening the community and supporting the rebuilding of Smithfield.
Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned athlete, we have something for everyone.
This Off-Road Triathlon Offers:
Adults can participate in any of the Poenkie events.
Children aged 12 and up may enter Poenkie 0.
Children aged 16 and up may enter Poenkie 1.
The whole family is welcome to join the 5km Fun Run!

The race will start and end at Smithfield Dam.
- Poenkie 2 and 4 - Line-up at 06:15. Start time: 06:30 (Cut off time: 6 Hours at 12:30).
- Poenkie 6 - Line-up at 06:15. Start time: 06:30 (Cut off time: 1.5 Hours at 08:00).
- Poenkie 1 and 3 - Line-up at 06:45. Start time: 07:00 (Cut off time: 4 Hours at 11:00)
- Poenkie 5 - Line-up at 07:15. Start time: 07:30 (Cut off time: 1.5 Hours at 9:00)
- Poenkie 0 - Line-up at 07:45. Start time: 08:00 (Cut off time: 2.5 Hours at 10:30)
Please supply your own triathlon, swim or run gear. There are no bikes to rent or borrow. Detailed instructions will be emailed to you a few days prior to race day. Please ensure you include your correct email address and mobile number, when you enter online, to receive up-to-date communication.
Race Number Collection and Race Briefing
- Bib, armband, and race merchandise collection: Friday, 23 January 2026, from 16:00 to 19:00 at the Golf Club or Saturday, 24 January 2026 From 05:00 to 05:45 at Smithfield Dam.
- Race briefing: Friday, 23 January 2026, at 18:00 at the Golf Club, and Saturday, 24 January 2026, at 06:00, at Smithfield Dam. Attendance at one of these briefings is compulsory.
- Bike & gear check-in: Friday, 23 January 2026, from 16:00 to 19:00 (strongly recommended).
- Final bike & gear check-in: Saturday, 24 January 2026, from 05:00 to 06:00. (There will be NO bike and gear check-ins allowed after 6:00)
- Athlete Zone policy: Only registered athletes are allowed inside Athlete Zones. Breaching this rule will result in penalties.
- Bike check-out: May begin after the first prize-giving ceremony.
Prize Giving
- Rewards ceremony will be held at Smithfield Dam after the first three places have finished of the different race divisions.
- The Race Director's decision will be final once the official results are published.
Race Results
After you finish your race, you can view your finish time, published by Peak Timing. Race results are not official until the Race Referees sign off.

Race photos will be taken throughout the race by our highly professional camera team, and will be published two weeks after the event by WF Pix for athletes to download and purchase.
