About:
The swim was first held in 1922 and was won by 14-year-old, Maisie Boyle, who we proudly include as part of the swim's logo. The Fremantle Ports Swim Thru is an annual event which forms part of the WA Masters Swimming, WOW Open Water Swim series, "the community swim series for all." The swim offers 3 distances: 3.2km, 1.6km and a Try-it 250m.
1.6km:
This classic event is open to all swimmers 11 years of age and over, with the swimming ability to be able to complete 1 lap of the 1.6km ocean swim safely and within a reasonable time. The fastest male and female for this event will get their names engraved on the Masie Boyle Trophy.
3.2km:
This 3.2km challenge is open to all swimmers 12 years of age and over, with the swimming ability to be able to swim two laps of the 1.6km course to complete the 3.2km ocean swim safely and within a reasonable time.
250m Try-It Swim:
Non-competitive/introductory swim over 250m course for swimmers 8 years of age and over and new to open water swimming. Guides will accompany swimmers.
ENTRY FEES
- Early bird (closes midnight 31st October): 1.6km or 3.2km Fremantle Ports Swim - $35
- From 1st November: 1.6km or 3.2km Fremantle Ports Swim - $45
- Late registrations/on race day prior to 7.15am - $60
- Try-it Swim Thru - $15

WATER
Keep hydrated on the day and be plastic free, BYO your own water bottle to re-fill using the available water bubbler.
ASSISTANCE
Assistance will be available for any swimmer who requires assistance to get from the water to the beach. Please notify the Event Organiser at race day registration.
WETSUITS/OTHER SWIM EQUIPMENT/JEWELLERY
Wetsuits may be worn, but swimmers wearing wetsuits will not be eligible to win prizes.
FINA swimwear restrictions SHALL NOT APPLY to this event.
No paddles, fins, flotation devices or swimming aids are permitted.
No watches, heavy jewellery or fit bands are permitted to be worn.
Medic Alert jewellery is permitted.
CANCELLATION/REFUNDS:
The event may be cancelled on short notice, including on the day of the event, due to various concerns including, but not limited to severe weather or safety concerns. In such an event refunds will not be made.
SUN BLOCK - DONATIONS TO St PATS
If you have any spare bottles of sun block, please bring them down to the beach to donate to St Pats. |

LOCATION & PARKING:
South Beach, South Fremantle.
Access is via South Terrace & Douro Rd. Parking is available on Wilson Park at end of South Terrace. UBD Map 345 Q3.
Wilson Park will be opened for parking for the event only. The park entrance & exit will be locked after the event. Those parking on Wilson Park must leave the area by 10.45am, no exceptions.

- Wild Bakery will be at the event selling their delicious pastries and food.
- South Beach Cafe and Bistro 21 are also nearby to purchase food and drinks.
