Urithi Athletics Club is a development athletics club formed in 2019, our vision is to prepare future champs (not only Urithi members).
We are excited to announce the Third Edition of the URITHI Legacy Race, taking place on 1 March 2026 at the prestigious Ruimsig Stadium in the West Rand. This year, the move to Ruimsig Stadium a partnership with the City of Johannesburg, represents a significant milestone, providing a larger, safer, and more accessible venue for runners and the surrounding communities.
The race will feature three distances: Challenging 21km, Invigorating 10km, and team spirited 5km, catering for athletes of all levels and health enthusiasts alike. The stadium's state-of-the-art facilities will enhance the overall race profile for the organizers and vibrant atmosphere/ experience for participants and spectators.
Our main objectives include:
1. Rewarding Excellence: We aim to continue to pay reasonable prize monies to elite runners, recognizing their hard work and dedication. This commitment to excellence attracts top-tier athletes and elevates the race's profile.
2. Engaging the Community: Social runners will receive a goodie bag filled with product samples, and socks, enhancing their race experience and fostering community spirit.
3. Community Development: Our CSI initiative offer coaching clinics and provide training gear and shoes for learners at Lesego Primary School, primarily serving the impoverished community of Diepsloot, and seek to provide meal packages to the Krugersdorp Teddy Bear Foundation, supporting abused and abandoned children aged 3 to 18, with a focus on girls.
4. Urithi Sponsored Runners - We are dedicated to empowering runners from disadvantaged backgrounds, offering them the support and opportunities to pursue their athletic dreams.

- Free Sox up to 500 entries for all distances.

- Total Prize Money R110 000 (10% increase from 2025)
