Date: 17/01/2026
Location: Dawesville Cut, WA
About:
Port Bouvard SLSC returns for the 7th running of the 'Cut 2 Club' Open Water Swim, and for the first time will offer competitors a choice of three distances.

The 'name sake' main event with it's challenging 3.5km course will see competitors once again swim from the beach adjacent to the Dawesville Sailing Club, up through the Dawesville Channel (The Cut), into Open Ocean around the Groin, past 'The Wedge' (a renowned Surf Break) to a finish on Pyramids Beach, the home of the recently upgraded clubhouse.

For those younger competitors, or those swimmers seeking a shorter experience there will be a short course available which will see swimmers leave the channel before reaching open ocean (2.25km).

Our 2026 event will see PBSLSC offer our previous competitors and the more seasoned swimmers among you, an opportunity to extend the challenge with a longer course, adding another 1.5km loop beyond the surf break returning swimmers through potential swell and surf to the shared (3.5km) finish point in front of Port Bouvard Surf Lifesaving Club. (5km)

This event is fast becoming a pillar of the South West's Open Water season, the stunning location, the challenge, the rare opportunity will be sure to attract seasoned and competitive swimmers.

With spots limited be sure to register early and secure your place in history as one of the first competitors in this new and iconic swim.

Other
The minimum age for swimmers is 10 years old on race day. Only competent swimmers who are fit and adequately trained should enter. We will be asking for proof of suitable swimming ability for swimmers 12 years and under.

Please note that any junior swimmers must provide proof of completing and passing Level 10 (as per Royal Life Saving) or equivalent to be eligible to swim in the event. Parents or guardians are to email proof to Cut2ClubSwim@portbouvardslsc.com.au. Parents or guardians will also be required to sign a hardcopy of the declaration/waiver at swimmer check-in. No award will be issued to the youngest swimmer

Level 10 - Junior swim and survive - links the skills of swimming, diving and treading water needed when in Open Water.

Note
Whilst race conditions will vary according to prevailing weather and tidal movement, it should be noted that it is anticipated that the majority of the course will be a flat water swim with minimal tidal flow, with a 700m stretch of the longer courses anticipated to be more challenging as competitors exit the cut channel and navigate around the groin back towards Pyramid Beach.
