About: An athlete must run any 3 out of 7 leagues plus the CGA Championships and be a licensed athlete to be considered for selection to represent CGA at the SA Championships and must have submitted a South African ID/Birth Certificate copy before 9 August 2026.
No temporary licenses will be allowed at CGA Championships as all athletes must be licensed. Temporary licenses will be on sale at the fixtures leading up to CGA Champs.
The first 6 athletes at the CGA Championships will be considered for selection provided they satisfy Rule 1 listed above. The Team size will be determined by the ASA Team Manual & budgetary constraints.
CGA Championships results carry more weight in terms of selection criteria.
No doctor's letter will be considered for selection.
Athletes who were representing CGA/South Africa during the cross-country season will be considered for selection based on the athlete's evidence provided/ selectors discretion on the merit of each case.
Selectors' discretion will apply in dealing with the merits of each athlete's case. All decisions in this regard will be considered final once ratified by the CGA board.
Athletes, coaches, parents and clubs are thanked in advance for respecting the selectors' decisions. Athletes, coaches, parents and clubs must note that although CGA endeavors to secure the necessary funding for participation, selections may be limited by budgetary constraints.
A pre-entry system will apply. Clubs and athletes are to use the pre-entry system.
Spectators will be allowed into the venue on payment of a R 30.00 entry fee
Athletes will be allowed into the venue on payment of a R20.00 entry fee
No entries will be accepted on race day.
Athletes who run in the incorrect age group will be credited with a league participation but not a position in the race.
Sub Vet & older ages to be in 5 year groups based on age of SA Champs, being 5 September 2026. Ie: if you are 50 on SA Champs you run as 50 the whole season.
An athlete will only be allowed to run in 1 event on the day.
