Race Organisers: Rotary Club Haenertsburg and Tzaneen Marathon Club
Route Description: 42.2km from Haenertsburg to Tzaneen; total rise of about 390m and fall of about 1100m. After a 2 km warm-up around the village the route joins the R71 eastbound starting with a 3 km climb. You'll be running on the shoulder of the westbound lane, facing any oncoming (local) traffic. After a further 12 km of ups and downs the course descends Makgobaskloof in 6 km to the Lowveld where you will find the next 9 km again undulating. The climbs ease off for the remaining 14 km of the route on the R71, R36 and streets of Tzaneen. A taxing run when combined with the Lowveld summer temperature and humidity.
We will have 15 water points initially 3.5 km apart and at closer intervals approaching the finish. There will be field toilets at the Start and at the 31 km, 21 km and 10 km to go stations along the route.

GENERAL
# In addition to entering online, all runners for all events must register for their event when they collect their race numbers. See above for registration venues and times.
# Late race number collections Saturday morning: 42km at Rotary Clubhouse, Rissik St, Haenertsburg (co-ords -23.942367, 29.939255); 21km and 10km at bus embarkation point in Tzaneen. Uncollected race numbers will be taken to the Start line of that event.
# Tog bag drop facility available for 42km. Bags clearly marked with name and race number can be handed in at the start and collected at the finish. This facility available to be used at own risk.
# Water points are provided on the route at intervals of 3,6 km and less, reducing to 1,7 km.
# Toilets are available at the Start and Finish, 10km after the Start of the marathon, at the half-way mark, at Allesbeste with 10km to go and at the entrance to Tzaneen with 4 km to go.
# Food and refreshments will be available for purchase at the Finish.
# All finishers will receive a medal.
