About: The 2nd Edition of this Zululand favourite event, Professor Otty Nxumalo Marathon returns to Vryheid on Saturday 03 October 2026.
This 4-in-1 event, comprises of the 42.2km, 21.1km, 10km and 5km races. The 42 km race is an Official Qualifier for both the 2027 Two Oceans and Comrades Marathons.
In 2026, this event has a new home at Abaqulusi Plaza, in the heart of Vryheid. The race route will take you on a tour of Vryheid town. Whilst on the 42.2 km route, you will catch sight of Inkamana Abbey's memorable architecture and the scenic Klipfontein Dam. Whether you run in a group or prefer a solitary run, this race will definitely give you an enjoyable moment on the road.

All race entries will be online, available at Webtickets website, Pick 'n Pay and Boxer Stores (early entries only) and on Peak Timing website (early and late entries).

*Temp license for 42.2 km will be sold to a permanent ASA license holder who forgot theirs
Early race entries
Early race entries will close on Saturday, 19 September 2026, 11:59 pm.
Webtickets website, Pick 'n Pay and Boxer Stores will only offer the early entries until Saturday 19 September 2026.
Late race entries
On-line late race entries will be available on the Peak Timing website from Sunday, 20 September 2026 00:00 am, until race day or until the event is sold out.

Abaqulusi Plaza on Corner of Utrecht & Mason Streets, Vryheid
- Thursday, 01-Oct-26 from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
- Friday, 02-Oct-26: from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
- Saturday 03-Oct-26 (race day morning): from 4:00 a.m. until 5:50 a.m.
Race entry changes
Substitutions, up-grades and down-grades may be done ONLY on Thursday and Friday 01 - 02 October 2026, during race pack collections for R50.00 fee. There will be NO CHANGES on RACE DAY.

Tog bag area
A tog bag area will be available on race day at race venue. Runners will leave their belongings at their own risk.
Waterpoints
Waterpoints for refreshments will be located every 3 km along the route. All race participants are urged to use the waste bins provided when disposing of any litter.
