About: The BTC Francistown Marathon is more than a sporting event; it is a catalyst for fostering a vibrant culture of health and wellness, resilience and unity, while creating value for the communities that host it. Now in its sixth year, the annual event brings together runners of all abilities from Botswana and beyond under the enduring theme of "Running Milestones of Hope."
The marathon reflects BTC's Corporate Social Investment (CSI) commitment to supporting the sustainable development of social, economic and environmental projects and initiatives across Botswana. To date, over P1.7 million has been invested in Francistown and surrounding communities through CSI initiatives, creating a legacy that lives on beyond race day.
As the largest one-day running event in Northern Botswana, the marathon also positions Francistown as a vibrant sporting and tourism destination. By attracting participants, spectators and visitors, it creates opportunities for local businesses to showcase their products and services, stimulate economic activity and benefit from the commercial opportunities generated by the event.
Through the marathon, BTC continues to demonstrate its commitment to community empowerment, national pride and development, connecting people, creating opportunities and inspiring positive change through the power of sport.
